Community Supporter
I work in social housing as Chief Executive of TPAS Cymru. Our mission is to improve the voice of tenants in influencing and shaping Welsh housing and the communities they serve. I sit on a number of Welsh Government Committees to represent people who rent their home.
I live in Penarth with my wife Sian and son Bryn and my hobbies inc cycling, walking and making community videos.
I believe in building stronger communities, and I volunteer with a number of community projects including my local park, Scouts and local events. I am Chair of Governors at Ysgol Gymraeg Pen Y Garth.
I have a passion for digital as an community engagement tool and I’m fascinated as to how technology can be used to support greater accessibility of our communities and society for all.
I strongly support Cartrefi Cymru in its co-operative journey as it seeks to become something special, that can show the way for how services and support can be delivered in Wales. I feel I can support the Council with external ideas and scrutinise the Board as an independent.
Supported by Cartrefi
I am a friendly and outgoing person who likes to meet new people. I have been supported by Cartrefi for the last three years.
I work in a community support shop every Monday, and also work in the red cross shop every Tuesday and every other Thursday, which I enjoy quite a lot. It helps me to feel valued. Since I have been supported by Cartrefi I have achieved my goal to walk independently to the red cross shop and community support shop.
I wanted to be a council representative to learn more about Cartrefi and be involved in community projects, as I like to help others.
My skills are cooking, and my talents are reading and doing jigsaw puzzles.
I love socialising with my friends, my hobbies are swimming, bingo, long walks, horse riding, cinema and reading nonfiction books.

I think I make a good council member, because I like to help other co-op members speak up. I have experience public speaking.
My hobbies are going to the gym, down to the pub and playing football, I also like to go to Powys People First. I like to listen to people and chat to people about their house and their life.
On a Tuesday I go to Forever Dance and I go to work in a charity shop. I also work at Mencap and Leighton too.
I love to go shopping, and spend time with my family and friends.
As a Council Member I will keep in touch with everyone, either by phone, in writing, by email or by organising a meeting for everyone to attend.
I would like to learn more and help create more activities in the community where people can get together and enjoy activities like football, arts and crafts or anything else members would like to do!
Community Supporter
I have retired from my career in HGV driving at Powys Country Council, after 40 years’ service. My retired life consists of golf, bowls and walking next doors boxer!
I am a volunteer for Brecon Lions, which means I am often supporting local causes by collecting funds, organising dinners amongst lots of other things. I am most famous in my community for wearing a big red suite and a white beard (Father Christmas!).
From my work and life experiences I have developed good people skills, and the ability to problem solve.
I was first introduced to Cartrefi by a fellow Brecon Lion and Cartrefi staff member who informed me of the Co-op and encouraged me to join. Brecon Lions and Cartrefi formed a partnership which has grown over the years.
I am thankful to be fit and healthy and love give something back to the community, now I have the time. Being a representative on the Council of Members will help me achieve this!

I volunteer as a receptionist on a Monday at Canolfan Byron and also volunteer at the local Tenovus Charity shop in Llangefni on Ynys Môn, North Wales.
I have been supported by Cartrefi Cymru for over four years – I really like living in Bodffordd. I live with my good friend Diana. My mum and other family members live close to me. I love going to visit them often and going on holidays with them regularly.
Since being on the Council of Members, I have met another old friend called Sam. She is also on the Counci of Members and lives in South Wales. We both have done this kind of work before with People First Wales between 1980 until 1990. We were on the executive committee and used to meet often in Brecon. I have good computer skills and enjoy using my tablet to read my emails and find information online.
My hobbies include knitting, and I organise a weekly knitting get together at an Extra Care Service in Bangor. I used to organise in the office, but not many were able to attend. Since moving to the service, a lot more people attend and I’ve made new friends with fellow knitters. I enjoy going to play bingo and doing word searches.
I also like every kind of craftwork. I like going to parties, especially themed parties.
Hi, I am Claire Dyer. I have a diagnosis of autism and challenging behaviour. I have been in many incompatible placements and institutions, all of which have failed. I have been supported by Cartrefi Cymru since March 2021. I have fab, fun staff who have supported me to attend exercise classes and fitness sessions, which help me burn energy and self-regulate. With the help of my support team, I have learned lots of new skills, overcome many fears, smashed goals I never imagined, and even tried new foods.
With my amazing team, I recently ran the Cardiff Half Marathon, and I enjoy volunteering at The Social Bean in Swansea.
